Terms of Use

Please read these Terms carefully. By accessing or using Monero User Forum, you agree to them. You must be at least 18 years old to use this site.

1. Acceptance of these Terms

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and the operator of Monero User Forum ("the Forum", "we", "us", or "our"). They govern your access to and use of this website, including any content, features, threads, private messages, chat, and services made available through it (together, the "Service").

By accessing, registering for, or using the Service in any way, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must not access or use the Service.

2. Eligibility & age requirement (18+)

You must be at least 18 years of age, or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction if that is higher, to access or use the Service. The Service is intended solely for adults. By using the Service you represent and warrant that:

  • you are 18 years of age or older;
  • you have the legal capacity and authority to enter into these Terms;
  • your use of the Service is permitted under the laws that apply to you; and
  • you have not been previously banned or removed from the Service.

We do not knowingly permit anyone under 18 to use the Service. If we learn that a user is under 18, we will remove the account. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a minor is using the Service, please contact us so we can take action.

3. Your responsibilities and lawful use

You are solely responsible for your conduct on the Service and for anything you post, send, upload, or share. You are responsible for complying with all laws, rules, and regulations that apply to you, including those of the country, state, and locality in which you reside or access the Service. The laws that apply to online activity, cryptocurrency, and speech vary by jurisdiction, and it is your responsibility — not ours — to know and follow the laws that apply to you.

You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity that occurs under your account.

4. User content

The Service lets users post and exchange content ("User Content"). User Content is the sole responsibility of the person who created it. We do not create, endorse, verify, or adopt User Content, and it does not represent our views. We are a neutral hosting platform for content created by others; opinions, claims, and information posted by users are theirs alone.

You retain any ownership rights you have in your User Content. By posting User Content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, reproduce, and distribute that content solely for the purpose of operating, providing, and promoting the Service. This licence ends when you delete the content, except to the extent it has been shared with others who have not deleted it, or where we must retain it to comply with the law.

You represent that you own or have the necessary rights to any User Content you post and that it does not violate these Terms or the rights of any third party.

5. Prohibited content and conduct

You must not use the Service to post, transmit, facilitate, solicit, or engage in any of the following:

  • Anything that is illegal under applicable law, or that promotes, facilitates, or solicits illegal activity.
  • Any sexual content involving minors, or any exploitation of a minor. This is strictly prohibited, will be removed immediately, will result in a permanent ban, and may be reported to the appropriate authorities. There is zero tolerance for this.
  • Threats of violence, incitement of violence, terrorism, or content that promotes harm to others.
  • Harassment, stalking, hate speech, or targeted abuse of any person or group.
  • Doxxing — publishing private or identifying information about another person without their consent.
  • Fraud, scams, phishing, deceptive schemes, or impersonation of any person or entity.
  • Malware, viruses, or any code or activity intended to disrupt, damage, or gain unauthorized access to systems or data.
  • Spam, unsolicited advertising, or manipulation of the Service, its rankings, or its members.
  • Infringement of any patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, or other intellectual-property or proprietary right.
  • Any attempt to interfere with, overload, probe, or circumvent the security or normal operation of the Service.

Nothing on the Service is an invitation or encouragement to break the law. Discussion of a topic is not a solicitation to commit any act, and you alone are responsible for your own actions.

6. No professional, financial, or legal advice

The Service is a discussion forum. Content on the Service — including anything about cryptocurrency, Monero, markets, trading, wallets, taxes, or the law — is provided for general informational and discussion purposes only and is not financial, investment, legal, tax, or professional advice. Cryptocurrency involves significant risk, including the risk of total loss. You are responsible for your own decisions and should seek advice from a qualified professional before acting. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of any content on the Service.

7. Moderation and enforcement

We may, but are not obligated to, monitor, review, moderate, edit, remove, or restrict access to any User Content or account at our sole discretion and without notice — including content we consider unlawful, harmful, objectionable, or in breach of these Terms. We may suspend or terminate any account and remove any content at any time, for any reason, including inactivity or suspected violation of these Terms. We are not liable for any moderation decision, or for a failure or delay in removing any particular content.

8. Intellectual property and copyright complaints

The Service, and its design, code, trademarks, and our own content, are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by law. Except for your own User Content and rights expressly granted here, nothing in these Terms transfers any intellectual-property right to you.

We respect intellectual-property rights. If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright or other rights, contact us through our Contact page with enough detail to identify the content and your claim, and we will review and remove infringing material where appropriate. We may remove content and terminate accounts of repeat infringers.

9. Third-party links and content

The Service may contain links to third-party websites, services, or resources, and User Content may reference them. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party sites or content, and a link is not an endorsement. Your use of any third-party site or service is at your own risk and subject to that third party's terms.

10. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains what limited information we handle to operate and protect the Forum.

11. Disclaimer of warranties

THE SERVICE AND ALL CONTENT ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS, OR THAT ANY CONTENT IS ACCURATE OR RELIABLE. YOU USE THE SERVICE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

12. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE AND OUR OPERATORS, CONTRIBUTORS, AND AFFILIATES WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) THE SERVICE OR ANY USER CONTENT, WHETHER BASED ON WARRANTY, CONTRACT, TORT, OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US$100). SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW CERTAIN LIMITATIONS, SO SOME OF THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Forum and its operators, contributors, and affiliates from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or in any way connected with your use of the Service, your User Content, or your violation of these Terms or of any law or third-party right.

14. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, or remove your content, at any time and for any reason, without notice or liability. Sections that by their nature should survive termination — including content licences already granted, disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnification, and governing law — will survive.

15. General

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and us regarding the Service. If any provision is found unenforceable, the rest remain in full effect and the unenforceable provision will be applied to the greatest extent permitted by law. Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of it. These Terms apply to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law; where any part is not permitted, it does not apply to you, but the remainder still does. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms; we may transfer ours in connection with a change in operation of the Service.

16. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Changes take effect when posted, and your continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms. Please review this page periodically.

17. Contact

Questions about these Terms, or reports of content that violates them, can be sent through our Contact page.

These Terms are provided for general use of the Forum and are not legal advice. If you are the operator, have a qualified lawyer review and adapt them for your jurisdiction and circumstances.
