If you're trying to make money with Monero, there are a few basic ways.
First is simply trading. Buying low and selling higher. You can do this with any exchange. On a CEX you can even short Monero to ride both sides.
Second is similar to trading, but it's playing arbitrage. You can find places where people are paying more for Monero and sell to them. This would apply to P2P trading where the spreads can be high due to the privacy people want. For example, people will pay more in cash or more in certain cities or countries than other places. This could be done with P2P trading platform like RetoSwap. The timing and fund transfer is the hard part in this one.
Third is operating a business that accepts Monero. This is challenging to do but if you're selling something people want which is privacy related, like cashing out crypto privately through gift and prepaid cards or some kind of services that relate to privacy, then that can work.
Fourth would be being an affiliate or getting sponsored by a Monero accepting business like an exchange. Exchanges are always hungry for more trades and by getting them trades, you in turn can make a profit. They can in some cases have huge profit margins and spend tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars a year on advertising. Getting a cut of that can be all that's needed to make money. But it's competitive and you are fighting for attention in a crowded space.
Fifth would be actual development work or something people have commissioned to have done based on a pool of funds. This is much harder and to do but there are people doing it.
There are other ways, but these are the main ways to do it for now.
