Pixel 10 Phone, GrapheneOS, Cake Wallet Guide with Tor

Fantastic video. This is exactly what I envisioned and I will send it to people in the future when relevant.

Here's my ideas from watching. They are very small and many might make sense to ignore.

Use pure-colored redactions instead of blur when you want to redact info. Blur can be decrypted especially with advances in AI.

"Give Accrescent access to this application" Actually you're giving it the permission to install apps.

I wouldn't have blurred seedphrase so that people can see the confirmation steps and maybe write down the seedphrase on paper.

It should just prompt you for camera permission you don't have to go to settings when first using it but maybe you had denied it previously.

You can also just click the donation link and it will open in CakeWallet but it makes sense to copy it to show people how.

I would've noted that the OS is highly secure without the duress pin, it's not a main feature for protecting user data, and it can be dangerous to use.

GrapheneOS doesn't depend on a duress PIN/password to protect against data extraction via exploits. It has strong protections without using it. Refusing to provide a PIN/password to law enforcement is legal in the US so that was likely a better option.

The beta release of skylight wallet added normal wallet syncing support as before it was light wallet only.

I would recommend showcasing Obtainium for installing the wallets from their GitHub. You just paste the GitHub repo link in and it allows you to install and update from Obtainium.

IMO it's the best private and secure way to install apps on GrapheneOS. Fdroid has security issues and update speed problems. Google Play is not private at all. Accrescent lacks apps.

You can also use appverifier to verify the different crypto wallets are the same exact apk that the developers have.

@Stylus1063 yes, app verifiers will be used. It was recorded but a lot of editing to do.

@admin Are you selfhosting a monero light wallet server for skylight wallet?

@Stylus1063 For that one, at the moment I just show downloading and installing it.

I will probably put it at the end and say it's outside the scope of the video and will say they are working on it not needing one. It would be a branching off point for doing a video on setting up a light wallet. So, it's the only one in the video that will just say it can't be installed and set up since I do not want to spend weeks on this, these videos take a long time to make and I cannot get stuck editing over this.

@admin I can give you a onion service light wallet server I just set it up if you want. This app needs work tho imo.

The latest beta release has regular node support.

@Stylus1063 I appreciate it but I think the way these are headed is for someone to learn on the way. So I will just point out that it won't work, there is a beta that will work, and that will leave room for another video.

It's already taken all week to research, record and edit before any narration or visual overlays. I have to have this done soon and can always revisit the light wallet topic if needed. There are even other apps, I have to set boundaries since no one is paying me to make this content.

@admin watched this one and the silent link. Great. The wallet one could be less complicated maybe sticking to one install and verification method. Maybe add more explanation while you talk in the future. For example Accrescent is the most secure and private way to install apps and on GrapheneOS it chains trust from the hardware all the way to the apps you install from it(well maybe that's bit complex but basically it's very secure).

You could do one using jmp.chat for number which is cool because it works over WiFi so you don't have to expose yourself to cell tracking location. Then maybe sign up for Molly/Signal with it to demo (perhaps censor the phone number idk). Can install Molly from Accrecent. Molly is gonna add in app payments with Monero so looking forward to that.

I think the thumbnails could turn people away but maybe that's just me they don't look particularly trustworthy.

@Stylus1063 It's just you. The 3 GrapheneOS videos have performed better than everything else ever made on the Monerica channel. Yeah, I get the Monero crowd doesn't like marketing and clickbait but these videos are about bringing other people into Monero. There's no practical way to grow Monero without making engaging content and that's the goal here.

@admin I'm not talking about those specifically. All your thumbnails look like that and plenty didn't do well.

I'm not saying don't do clickbait, but most of the biggest youtubers and most popular videos don't have AI thumbnails.

@Stylus1063 I don’t see the problem. Some AI ones are worse than others sure, but making the thumbnails manually is just not a good use of time. I’m not A B testing them though. The main thing is just that the viewer sees what’s in the thumbnail in the first few seconds. How it’s made is not what determines CTR or watch time.
